ENTERTAINMENT/MEDIA/SPORTS ER&R MARKET INSIGHTS – UPDATED 3/17/25
Market Updates
- The ER&R team attended SXSW and some EMS trends include: the rise of niche content and channels, the popularity of the horror genre, the collective desire for escapism in film, movies, streaming shows, books, social media & other products due to global uncertainty.
- EMS is a more nuanced market for MBA recruiting, especially on the full-time side. These industries require a more networked-based approach in the job search as roles are frequently posted on an ad hoc basis with an immediate need to fill them. Since full-time roles require immediate availability, candidates may find opportunities closer to graduation.
- After his SXSW panel Leveling Up Playtime: Engaging Gen Alpha on Roblox, the ER&R team sat down with alumnus Ricardo Briceno (MBA ’08) and discussed the gaming industry more broadly and recruiting opportunities in this space. Ricardo offered to meet with MIT Sloanies on a future trek to LA. He also plans to share two full-time PM roles with his company, GameFam.
- A featured full-time position: Associate Director, North America Publisher Partnerships at Audible.
- A featured internship: Product Manager Intern – TlkTok Shop – Product – Creator Affiliate and Agency at TikTok
