FINANCE HIRING TRENDS AND ER&R MARKET INSIGHTS
Market Updates
- The outlook for 2025 is positive, driven by strong growth in investment banking revenues, particularly in debt and capital markets (DCM & ECM). Hedge funds are expected to increase spending on both permanent and temporary talent due to a strong equities market, more M&A activity, investor inflows, AI integration, and robust fund allocations. In private equity, the outlook is bullish with interest rate cuts, political changes, and lower capital gains rates boosting deal activity and fundraising. The VC market is also strong, with Chime and Hopper’s upcoming exits anticipated to bring billions back to investors for reinvestment.
- Many VC firms are actively engaging with MIT Sloan students this spring. Recent discussions with VC firms highlighted openings for both internship and full-time MBAs, with associate and summer associate roles posted for Ensemble VC, Vestigo Ventures, Pillar VC, Kapor Capital, Anthos Capital, Generate Capital, Watertower Ventures, and Hitachi Ventures.
- On the Private Equity side, HarbourVest will participate in our Career Fair on 4/9 and is eager to engage with Sloanies!
- At Fintech Meetup in Las Vegas (March 10-13), the ER&R had productive discussions with several VCs eager to connect with MIT Sloan talent, including Communitas Capital, Resilience VC, TruStage, & Plug and Play.
- A featured full-time role: The ER&R team also met with Tarun Gupta, Partner at Jump Capital, a Series A venture fund focused on fintech, infrastructure, and software. They hired an MIT Sloan grad last year and are now seeking a full-time Associate for their New York office. Please apply through the resume drop feature (not by emailing the firm).
- A featured internship: 2025 Summer Vice President at General Atlantic.
