PARTNERS GROUP SUMMER ASSOCIATEPROGRAM
Partners Group’s Summer Associate Programis an opportunity for early-stage professionals with top credentials to embarkon a long-term and challenging career with a world-leading private marketsmanager. The primary purpose of the Summer Associate Program is to provide apathway to a private markets career for candidates from backgrounds that aretypically under-represented in financial services. We are looking foroutstanding candidates who will thrive and become active members in ourentrepreneurial organization. Summer Associates will work on one of ourinvestment teams (Private Equity, Private Infrastructure, Private Real Estate, PrivateDebt) to gain immediate exposure to senior leaders and decision makers.
Throughout the internship, SummerAssociates will work with investment captains to independently developinvestment theses and write investment recommendations for presentation toinvestment committee. Summer Associates are expected to take fullresponsibility over one or several work streams of investment diligence andunderwriting and/or portfolio company value creation initiatives. In additionto day-to-day investment work and portfolio company work, Summer Associates areto submit a capstone deliverable consisting of a prospective investmentmemorandum in support of Partners Group’s thematic sourcing efforts.
Summer Associate Program Structure
· 10-week summer internship at PG’sregional HQ in Broomfield, CO (located midway between downtown Denver andBoulder)
· Dedicated onboarding and trainingcomprised of both internal best practices and external financial modelingtraining
· Mentoring from an experienced managerand exposure to senior management
· Following a successful internship,candidates may be invited to join their team the following graduation in 2023
Candidate Background / Qualifications
· Top academic credentials from aleading university and currently enrolled in a full-time, two-year MBA program(or equivalent Master’s degree program), graduating in 2023.
· 2-5 years relevant full-time workexperience, taking into account the below team descriptions:
o Private Equity, Health & Life: The Health & Life vertical is focused on globalhealthcare and life science companies. The team is led by Todd Miller and whileit currently has a smaller portfolio of investments than other verticals, theportfolio has performed extremely well and is poised to expand on its recentgrowth given the inherit importance in all our lives. Recent examples ofportfolio investments include: EyeCare Partners, the largestvertically integrated medical vision services provider in the US, and ConfluentHealth, a US-based healthcare system of physical and occupational therapyproviders.
o Private Equity, Technology: The Technology vertical invests in a variety of global informationtechnology companies, largely focused in the software and service providerspace. The team is led by Bilge Ogut and has increased its focus in the marketand continued to hone its expertise over the last five years. Recent examplesof portfolio investments include: GlobalLogic, a US-based providerof outsourced software product engineering services, and Civica, aleading UK provider of business-critical software, digital solutions andoutsourcing services.
o Private Equity, Services: The Services vertical is focused on investing in global companies thatprovide critical business solutions across utilities, education, financing, andsecurity, amongst others. The team is led by Joel Schwartz and Kim Nguyen andis the largest of the four verticals by invested amount. Recent examples ofportfolio investments include: Techem, a leading Germanysub-metering service provider, and USIC, a US-based leadingprovider of infrastructure locating services, which marks subsurface structuresprior to the commencement of construction or excavation activities.
o Private Equity, Goods & Products: The Goods & Products vertical invests in globalindustrial and manufacturing companies across a variety of consumer goodsincluding, food, jewelry, clothing, and mechanical industries. The team is ledby Fredrik Henzler and Manas Tandon and is the largest vertical by number ofinvestments. Recent examples of portfolio investments include: BCR,a China-based retail display solution provider which creates and installsdisplay fixtures in retail outlets, and Schleich, a German toymanufacturer active in figurines and playsets.
o Oper. Directors & Entrepreneurial Governance: The team is focused on ensuringPartners Group is building businesses and not just buying assets. ODEG focuseson creating value in portfolio companies where value creation is quarterbackedthrough the support of a board governance framework. ODEG’s work focuses ondeveloping board excellence in Private Equity Directs and Infrastructureinvestments but also works with other asset classes as necessary.
o Private Equity Integrated: The Integrated team focuses on private equity fundinvestments, secondary and co-investments in and alongside private equityfunds. Professionals on this team participate in all aspects of private marketinvestments, as well as develop investment skills and build industryrelationships
o Private Infrastructure: The team focuses on control and control-oriented Infrastructureinvestments. The team targets investments across Infrastructure sub-sectorsincluding Energy, Communications, Transportation, Utilities, and InfrastructureServices. Team members typically have experience working either in corporatefinance roles in relevant industries, investment banking, or in other principalinvesting roles.
o Private Real Estate: The team focuses on value-add and opportunistic control equityinvestments. The team targets investments across various sectors includingoffice, logistics/industrial, residential, and retail. Team members typicallyhave experience working in real estate finance, asset management, or brokerage.
o Private Debt: Theteam provides private debt solutions (unitranche, second lien, HoldCo PIKnotes, preferred equity, and common equity) primarily to back privateequity-sponsored leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and acquisitions. Teammembers typically have experience in investment banking, leveraged finance, orprivate capital.
