Roark Capital Group (“Roark”) is seeking MBA candidates to join an 8-10 week Private Equity Summer Internship program. Based in Roark’s Atlanta headquarters, the Summer Intern will work on investment and portfolio growth initiatives. Depending on the project, the Summer Intern may report to a Vice President, Principal or Managing Director on sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and executing investment opportunities. The Summer Intern will be expected to take an active, hands-on role on the analysis and modeling of prospective investments and must possess advanced analysis skills consistent with and
complementary to the firm’s highly analytical approach to investment evaluation. Summer Interns will have active involvement in all aspects of the investment process, including:
Key Responsibilities
• Driving analyses, modeling, and due diligence (both internally and with third party providers)
• Financing – evaluating prospective lenders and reviewing credit agreements
• Negotiating acquisition, equity, employment, and related transaction agreements
• Preparing materials for and participating in meetings of the firm’s Investment Committee
• Monitoring performance of existing portfolio companies and interacting with management teams on specific initiatives
• Assisting in developing investment strategies for new industries or investment verticals consistent with the firm’s investment criteria and objectives Interns who are successful will be eligible for a full-time role.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of work experience and will have previously worked or interned in an investing role (including private equity, venture capital, hedge fund, family office, corporate development) or have relevant investment banking or consulting experience. Candidates should demonstrate:
• Outstanding interpersonal skills – the presence and maturity to establish credibility and
inspire confidence both inside and outside Roark
• Exceptional analytical skills
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance principles
• Exceptional work ethic and a background evidencing a high level of achievement
• A self-starter with a positive, “can do” attitude who regards no task as too big or too small for them
• Able to discharge responsibilities with minimal oversight while maintaining a sense of urgency
• Detail-oriented with outstanding communication and organization skills
• Able to effectively manage large quantities of information and multiple projects, capable of concurrently completing a wide variety of tasks and to quickly shift priorities while maintaining focus
