VP and Head of Sales and Business Development at The Gas Connection
The Gas Connection is Colorado’s leading natural gas line installation and service company. Founded in 1980, we have been providing best-in-class service to thousands of happy customers around Colorado’s Front Range for over 40 years. Recently acquired by Denver-based private equity firm Saturn Five, we are embarking on our next chapter of growth, and we’re looking for a motivated business athlete to help lead us on the journey.
The Vice President and Head of Sales & Business Development will manage a team of 3-5+ Project Estimators, execute verbal and on-site bids for natural gas line installation and repair jobs, and spearhead business development and account management initiatives. Over time, this person will take on additional sales and marketing responsibilities, such as pricing and promotion strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is a crucial member of our leadership team and presents an exciting opportunity for a mid-career professional interested in SMB and/or PE portfolio company sales and operations.

Responsibilities:
- Become a subject matter expert on all products, services, and pricing
- Partner with the CEO to set business development and account management strategy, then work with other estimators and office staff to execute initiatives
- Collaborate with other company leaders to identify and implement business process improvements and tooling upgrades (e.g., cloud-based CRM rollout)
- Set pricing and promotion strategy (in collaboration with the CEO) and manage communication of price changes, promotions, and preferred partner pricing
- Complete on-site and verbal estimates for gas line installation and repair for indoor and outdoor natural gas appliances (e.g., firepits, fireplaces, ranges, etc.)
- Develop and manage relationships with contractors and retailers who refer TGC
- Coach, train, and mentor team of ~3-5 Project Estimators
- Hold estimators accountable for setting and meeting performance goals, and make hiring/firing decisions as needed, in consultation with the CEO
- Represent The Gas Connection brand in interactions with customers and key accounts in-person and via phone/email, maintaining the utmost professionalism at all times
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 8 years of professional experience in general management, sales & marketing, or a related field
- Demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams strongly preferred
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to learn quickly “on the job”
- Direct experience with gas line installation is not required, but experience with or exposure to plumbing, HVAC, or other construction or mechanical contracting is a plus
- Experience managing a team, including hiring/firing as well as coaching/mentoring
- Comfort with computers and standard business software, including MS Office Suite, G-Suite, and web-based CRM applications
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to relocate or reliably commute to the Denver/Boulder Metro Area
