About the PM CoP
Welcome to the PM CoP. Here you will find a vibrant, multi-generational PM network that connects alumni, students, faculty, and staff around shared learning and leadership.
PM CoP exists to accelerate learning, elevate craft, and create meaningful connections among MIT/MIT Sloan professionals working in product management, product building, product design, product marketing, product operations, product strategy, product development, and other product-adjacent roles. We are building this community to scale impact, position MIT Sloan as the go-to community for top talent in product management and related roles and potentially influence the development of the field.
We do this by:
• Sharing knowledge and proven best practices
• Providing a trusted space for candid discussion and peer support
• Cultivating thought leadership that advances product management
• Supporting members’ career growth and well-being
Membership in the PM CoP is free and open to MIT/MIT Sloan product leaders and practitioners; students, alumni, faculty, and staff are all welcome.
Join the MIT Sloan Product Management Community of Practice LinkedIn Group to connect with your high-impact network of Sloan product leaders. Here you will find practitioner insights, insider job postings, and discussions about the evolving craft of product management.
Membership is free and open to any MIT Sloan alumni who are involved in product management or adjacent roles (design, marketing, development, strategy, and operations). We want this community to consist of professionals from all experience levels – from early career to C-Suite leadership, with representation from diverse products – from digital to physical to AI – and career journeys.
To express your interest in joining, please fill out the following application form:
The PM CoP serves as a central hub for PM professional development, spanning mentorship, speaker programming, and improving your PM craft sessions for alumni.
- The PM CoP delivers alumni-led speaker events and student interview mentorship opportunities that connect students, alumni, faculty, and staff, translating real-world product leadership into practical learning and career advancement.
- The PM CoP strengthens classroom learning and academic engagement by embedding experienced alumni practitioners directly into PM Lab and Intro to PM courses.
- It amplifies alumni and faculty thought leadership and collaboration, providing an opportunity to co-create content grounded in current market practice.
Join us to help shape the PM Ecosystem at MIT Sloan.
This CoP is a first-of-its-kind for MIT Sloan to launch – we invite you to help us make this a major success. The first year of the CoP will give us time to pilot and learn what works best for the community, including event cadence, communications, and types of interactions.
We want the CoP to live up to its promise, which means that its potential will depend on members being active and contributing regularly to support the ongoing learning and growth of all members. We will need members to help drive event programming. Here are some examples of events/experiences we can co-plan:
- Sloanies Speaker Series
- Alumni Fireside Chats
- PM Craft: Product Launch Success/Failure Stories/Case Studies
- Speed Mentoring/Ask Me Anything
- Networking Events
- Peer-to-Peer Learning Circles
The PM CoP is guided by an alumni steering committee, key PM faculty and CDO staff, and PM Club student leaders who bring a shared commitment to growing the PM community together. Their leadership ensures that the PM CoP evolves in meaningful ways rooted in the needs of both students and alumni.

Alumni are deeply engaged in helping students elevate their interviewing skills. Using their understanding of specific company interview processes, alumni act as coaches and advisors, helping candidates clearly articulate their stories, demonstrate judgment under pressure, and showcase their ability to perform at the level expected of future product leaders.
